Leading the Change: Sabert Complies with EU Regulation (PPWR) on limiting the use on PFAS substances

At Sabert, our top priority has always been to provide safe and sustainable food packaging solutions, for our customers and their consumer. We pay close attention to the origin, manufacture and use of all our packaging, as well as its environmental impact at the end of its life.  As a leader in food packaging manufacturing, we are proud to offer products that not only meet our customers’ needs but also fully comply with strict guidelines established by European legislation.

Upcoming European regulation: be ready today

Regulation (EU) No 40/2025 on packaging and packaging waste (PPWR) introduces new measures, including Article 5(5) paragraph 5, of Regulation (EU) No 40/2025 limiting the use of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), often referred to as “forever chemicals” due to their persistence in the environment and the human body. The regulation specifically prohibits the use of these substances in packaging materials from 12 August 2026.

New HC range: compostable, recyclable, and compliant with legislation

In line with our values and in full compliance with the new PPWR – Regulation 40/2025), we are beginning the full transition toward packaging without intentionally added PFAS.

Our new HC range is made from renewable plant-based resources. It is fully home compostable & recyclable (depending on your local recycling activities) and free from intentionally added PFAS. This range offers a sustainable alternative to our standard solutions and is now gradually replacing them. It allows professionals in foodservice, takeaway, and food distribution to stay ahead of regulations while ensuring consumer safety.

Below, you will find the first items converted to the HC range, along with their specifications and the option to order samples online.
